Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to 11 September 2014

2014, 12 episodes: AniDB

Situation comedy based on a manga artist, his assistant, and various other workmates.

Having only twelve half-length episodes, most of them divided into three or four segments, doesn't leave time for anything more than basic jokes and the occasional introduction of a new character; there's no narrative or plot progression here. If what you want is jokes about manga production, all-nighters, and panties, this series is made for you. For me it rather disappointed.

Animation and character design are basic and workmanlike, with occasional over-magnified zip-tone effects (as with a close-up manga panel) to indicate an extreme emotional state.

It is what it is. There are no surprises here, and you should be able to tell whether you'll enjoy it after the first five minutes, because the rest really is just more of the same.
