Pink Sky At Night 06 November 2015

Yesterday, within a minute after local sunset, the sky went pink.

The mostly-overcast sky changed from bluish-grey to bright pink over the space of about two seconds; then about ten seconds later it faded to a darker pink, which persisted for about ten minutes and then faded back to a normal darkening grey.

This is the best of the images I captured, but even this doesn't show the colour of the sky itself. (Just for reference, that wall on the left is light grey in reality.)

I assume that this was a matter of the setting sun getting behind a cloud of just the right optical composition, but the sudden and complete nature of the transformation was quite startling.

Maybe I should check the four thousand gallon potable water reserveā€¦

That brings a whole new meaning to 'rosy glow', doesn't it ?
