Every so often a server for which I'm responsible fails, and I get it
shipped to me for fixing. Usually this works reasonably well.
Here's one of the two which arrived yesterday: so far so good.
And here's the other one.
Front grille missing, both rack ears badly bent, indentation in the
lower corners... I know DHL is huge and so doesn't need to care about
quality of service, but I can't help thinking they could try a
little harder than simply being ready to slap some "repacked" tape
on the corner of the box that they had smashed off.
(But the machine does still POST! I suspect the discs took the brunt
of the blow, and most of them were failing already.)
