About eleven people, at the Abbot Cook (formerly Jack of Both Sides)
in Reading.
With one group going for
Russian Railroads
I was clearly going to go for the other. Unfortunately we started with
Carcassonne,
which for whatever reason is one of my least favourite games, quite
possibly because I'm very bad at it. Though the guy who'd never played
before won by a huge margin, suggesting that even experienced players
are subject to luck.
We went on to
Las Vegas,
which has an interesting strategy but is also a bit too luck-dependent
for me. There's the core of a good game in there, but the dice force
too many moves.
I was feeling a bit on the weary side, so came away at this point.
