As those of you who came to the midsummer barbecue will have noticed,
the gazebo roof had rotted in the sun. So we had it re-built. Images

The old roof was quickly stripped off, and the extra layer of
framing went in.

Then an underfelt layer on that, and the battens to hold the shingles.


Then the shingles themselves went on, nailed to the battens.

The west side was the hardest, as there was no room for scaffolding
against the fence.

Once adjacent panels were done, the corner pieces could go on to
provide a weather seal.

And, with the cap on the apex, it's done!


Not that I've actually had the chance to try it in the rain yet…
