Marlow Tabletop and Board Games 5 September 2016 20 September 2016

Back to the Two Brewers on a muggy night, for the third meeting of this Meetup-based boardgames group.

With eight of us present, we played some "big" games that don't work as well with smaller groups. We started the evening with The Resistance, one I haven't had out much lately; since most of us had played it before, I ran it in Avalon mode with the Assassin Module out of the Hidden Agenda expansion (Commander, False Commander, Bodyguard, Assassin). The two novices were both spies, but it was still a pretty close game, just barely ending up with a Rebel victory.

Next was Bang! The Dice Game, my third play; it's still not one that I'm likely to buy, but I enjoyed it more this time than last. Having player elimination is a game feature I generally dislike, but the rounds do at least get faster as players are wiped out.

Finally, a couple of rounds of Codenames, which I'll admit is growing on me. I even played as spymaster for one of them, and while I may have been a bit obscure at times we did just about pull off a win.
