Having been evicted from the Two Brewers for not drinking enough, we
gathered at the Marlow Donkey for the fourth meeting of this
Meetup-based
boardgames group.
We began with several rounds of
6 Nimmt!, which
I really ought to buy as I enjoy it when I play it. Even though, with
two really terrible rounds, I came solidly in last place.
Then on to a couple of games of The Resistance, slightly odd with
six players – but still in Avalon mode. This time we had two old
hands, three who'd played last month, and one novice - and both games
came out fairly close again.
We ended the evening with six-sided
Scrimish,
which is never going to be my favourite game, but thanks to a bit of
beginner's luck and I suspect my opponents' misreading of my
strategies I ended up winning. Considering that this is largely a
memory game, and I'm usually terrible at those, I'm amazed. I worked
out some key things to try to remember through the round, focused on
kicking people when they were down, and got lucky.
