This Meetup-based
boardgames group continues to meet at the Marlow Donkey.
I received
Not Alone in
the Essen maths trade, and got it out since there were seven of us. I
hadn't played the Creature before, and I think I probably did quite a
poor job, but so did the other players and the game ended up with a
close victory for them. We all enjoyed it, and I think some of the
players may buy it.
We went on with
Secret Hitler,
which fell into the usual attractor: Hitler played as a Liberal, and
was elected Chancellor.
Last game for the evening was
Flamme Rouge,
where I sat out and acted as rules-engine to let the other six play
the full game. The pack only broke up seriously at the final hill,
though one player pulled off a very clear victory. I still love the
gameplay here: since everyone's starting with the same cards, the only
way to gain position is to work out what other people are going to
play and take advantage of it by drafting (and avoid being held back
by clogged roads).
