Because circumstances are being, well, circumstantial.
Specifically, the boiler which provides hot water and central
heating to the guest wing of the house (people who haven't seen it,
it's not as grand as it sounds) has failed, and needs to be replaced.
Since it was fitted with a severely dodgy flue by the previous owner
(not particularly unsafe, but distinctly illegal), we're getting that
fixed at the same time; this will mean quite a bit of drilling, and
thus dust.
That boiler is in the machine room, so this evening everything is
going to be shut down - firewall, nameserver, great big storage server
(and backup), and the desktop machine on which the blog is compiled,
even though the server from which you read it is elsewhere (on the
outskirts of York, in fact). The work will take place starting
disgustingly early tomorrow, much of it while I'm out (my wife is very
understanding), and I won't be in a position to get things running
again until I get home tomorrow evening.
Therefore I hope to put up the "Saturday" blog post tomorrow evening.
Wait and see (or use the RSS feeds).
