This Meetup-based
boardgames group continues to meet at the Marlow Donkey.
We started with four playing
Xenon Profiteer,
where the cards fell very strangely – we ran out of nitrogen
completely, and I had several hands with no xenon at all even though I
knew I'd been picking up the relevant cards.
I didn't come last, but only just.
On with five to
V-Commandos
and the start of Operation Rapacious. This was too hectic for me to
take any photographs, and we ran out of time with both Lighthouse and
Goliath Factory missions achieved but the teams not yet escaped off
the map. But although there was a fair bit to pick up before we could
start play, I think everyone got the hang of it quickly and enjoyed
the game. I need to work on a standard approach for teaching this,
though. This remains one of my favourite tactical boardgames; the
emphasis on stealth and puzzle-solving rather than firepower matches
the way I like to play.
