2018 cooking story, shounen manga adaptation in 12 episodes:
AniDB, vt
"Food Wars: The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc". Yukihira Sōma fights
cooking duels to try to let himself and his friends be allowed to stay
in the élite Totsuki cooking school.
Of course it's all a bit synthetic: it's admitted that the
Villain could simply throw out everyone he doesn't like, but for
reasons of oh look over there it's fresh bear meat, he doesn't choose
to do so.
But really this is more of the same, using the sports anime template
with an unusual sport. There's some sense of the joy of traditional
Japanese diner food as opposed to the soullessness of only using the
best possible ingredients and methods, but Sōma's approach is usually
to do both.
There's also some slight character development, mostly for the older
generation who've been largely in the background until now; we even
get some idea of how the Villain got that way. But that's not what the
show is really about.
A fourth season follows, and there's no conclusion here.
