2012 contemporary fantasy short stories, a "re-imagining" of the
Twilight series. Various snippets out of the lives of various
characters in the earlier novels.
Which really I should have read less than five years after the
two actual novels, but I found it surprisingly easy to remember who
was who and what their special powers were all about. And, unlike the
second novel, it's more about the people than about the powers.
What it's not is about plot; these are not stories, they're
descriptions of a few events. A typical summary might be "how person X
felt about situation Y that was already described for the principals
in the novels". So it's absolutely not an introduction to the setting
to see if you like it, the way some short stories are; it assumes you
already know the people and their stories, and shows you bits of them
from different angles.
Which is OK, but it's nothing particularly special. The first book
was; it got me to read a piece of Twilight fanfic. This is cut
material from other viewpoints, how person X got vamped a few hundred
years ago, and so on.
