Marlow Tabletop and Board Games 1 June 2020 07 June 2020

This Meetup-based boardgames group has moved on-line for the moment; we got together on Jitsi and then played some games on BoardGameArena.

As it turned out, the others were in the mood for games I'd played before and could teach, so we started with Rallyman: GT which is very much in the front of my mind at the moment what with the various tournaments.

Then we went on to Race for the Galaxy, at which I did about as well as usual. The BGA implementation is a little tricky (sometimes it's "pick X to discard", sometimes "pick X to keep", and in keeping with their philosophy it'll grab the cards as soon as you've clicked on enough of them) but it seemed to work out all right.

On the other hand, the symbology isn't a problem, as you get hover-text explaining everything in English.

The version of RftG on Steam is very good. I play that a lot and although you can do multiplayer, the AI is tough enough at medium & high levels to make it a challenge.
