This Meetup-based
boardgames group remains on-line for the moment; as usual we got
together on Jitsi and then played some games on BoardGameArena.
We started with
Kingdomino,
which I've played once before on an early morning at Games Expo.
Things seemed to be going reasonably well, but I came in last (which
turned out to be the theme of the evening).
Then on to Race for the
Galaxy, with a
military strategy for me that saw both New Galactic order and Galactic
Imperium established. We may have lost the game, but our dropships and
space marines will soon be coming on a Peace and Friendship Visit.
Finally, Twin Tin
Bots, a
programming game designed to be frustrating: each of your two robots
has three program slots, but most of the time you can only change the
contents of one of those six per turn. So there's a lot ot looking
ahead. We didn't even use the attack programs. I definitely want to
play more of this, and in the real world too. (Alas, it looks as
though the small print run is thoroughly sold out and I'm seeing
prices of £40+ for this fairly light game.)
