This Meetup-based
boardgames group remains on-line for the moment; as usual we got
together on Jitsi and then played some games on BoardGameArena.
Forbidden
Island
first: after some remarkably bad early turns, we pulled it off with
only a few tiles left.
Then Dungeon
Roll, which
I hadn't played before. You're sending expendable "companions" down a
dungeon to fight monsters, and both companions and monsters are dice;
so there's an awful lot of input randomness, and the ways to mitigate
it are mostly fairly clear. Also, absolutely no player interaction;
face to face one of the inactive players rolls the monster dice, but
really you could run this as a set of simultaneous solo games without
any changes to the rules. Not bad as a solo but very little strategy
beyond the immediate.
