Nominations are now open for the Pearple's Choice Awards for 2019-2020.
This set of boardgame awards was organised on the old Shut Up &
Sit Down forums, but the organiser has gone elsewhere. So when nobody
else seemed to want to do it, and since the SU&SD forum community has
come to tekeli.li, I thought I would…
Of course I am not ashamed to tread on the faces of giants, so rather
than invent my own I've borrowed the Hugo Award nomination and voting
system: nominate up
to five items in each category, then in the final ballot put the list
of nominees in order of preference (including "No Award"). (Remember,
people in the UK, our political masters think that we are too stupid
to understand the idea of "putting things in order".)
Naturally I've written software to do the counting and in particular
the fiddly elimination procedures – I've never previously put in code
comments referring to which specific paragraph of the rules they
implement – and once I'm happy with it I'll make it public.
