Boardgames in Isolation: April (part 1) 17 April 2021

More boardgames played from home. Fewer games, but a bit more diversity, or at least that's the way it feels.

Not to say that there hasn't still been plenty of Letter Tycoon and Rallyman: GT on BGA. But I also played some Automobiles on yucata (as well as a very slow ongoing game of Lemminge; I don't log games until they're over)

I tried out Beyond the Sun since it's now on BGA – and I had a good time, but there's a lot going on and the end result pushes a bit far into the modern Euro space for my comfort. I may well play it again some time, but I'm not in any rush and I shan't be buying it soon.

A bit more Flamme Rouge, finishing off the BGG tour. (I'll do this again some time, but at the moment I'm running both Firefly and Blood on the Clocktower on discussion.tekeli.li and I don't really have time to run more games.)

Heroes of Tenefyr for the podcast. You won't be hearing about this just yet, though; maybe in a month or two. Sneak preview: the theme does nothing for me, but I quite enjoyed the mechanics.

A long-running play-by-forum game of Leaving Earth ended somewhat anticlimactically when I exploited lunar minerals to come from behind and build huge Mars and Venus missions. I realise the infinite money bug has been fixed, but I'm still not entirely happy about this.

Another game of Pandemic Legacy: Season 1: April, and we haven't lost a game yet, though it was looking a bit shaky this time. I'm finding the storyline a bit predictable so far, but we'll see how it goes.

And a test play of Sentinels of the Multiverse, because I wanted to find out if I liked it (and if it was different enough from Aeon's End) to make it worth joining the kickstarter for the updated edition. The Tabletop Simulator mod (of the old edition with most of the expansions) is… comprehensive.

And the answer is: yes, although superheroes aren't really my thing, they do provide a good handle on the sort of actions one should be taking in the game; and a glance through the heroes and villains shows a lot of variability.
