I quite enjoy
Concept but the
official teamwork rules are tedious. So this is a variant invented by
Oliver of the Marlow gaming group, which works rather better.
- The first clue-giver is picked at random.
- Which clue on the card is active can be chosen randomly, or with a
d10 roll, or with a d3 roll for which of the three sections as active
and then let the clue-giver pick within that.
- Every other player is involved in the guessing.
- The placing of clues is an ongoing process. As with a game of
charades, as players call out sub-concepts, they can be nodded or
head-shaken to and the clue-giver can move on to the next thing.
("Yes" or "no" may be allowed, though some people can get very
expressive with them.)
- The first player to call the right answer gets the card for their
score pile (face down to avoid confusion with the active card), and
becomes the next clue-giver. Return to 2.
- When last orders is called (or for whatever other reason you end
the game), whoever has the most cards in their score pile is the
winner.
It does mean there's only a single clue-giver rather than a joint
effort, but this seems to work pretty well with minimal overhead.
