Back to the boardgame café. Yup,
last time we went was in December 2019.
And we started with a new roll and write, Dice Hospital: ER –
Emergency
Roll.
Unlike many of these, there is some player interaction: one player
each round gets sole use of one of the available dice. There's some
commonality with the full Dice Hospital, but there are also some
false friends for the unwary. A pleasant diversion, but I felt I'd
seen most of the game in this one play, and wouldn't seek it out
again.
Sub Terra, a
game I quite enjoyed last time I played it, but with lots of little
points of friction - the odd symbols, the randomness, the way the game
seems to be won or lost more by choosing the right amount to spread
out than by the actual decisions you make while exploring.
And finally the traditional Timeline: this time British
History
and Music and
Cinema.
I think we may start looking for another short light game to close out
the evening; this really has outworn its welcome for us.
