This Meetup-based
boardgames group continues to meet in the Britannia.
Six of us this night, with a visiting guest, and we started with
The Island of Doctor
Lucky
from 2018. It's clearly an updated version of the classic, intended to
run rather faster, and in this it largely succeeds; on the other hand
it still suffers from the ending being largely determined by who runs
out of "you don't win" cards first.
Codenames,
first time I'd played for a while, and I'd forgotten just how bad I
can be at spymastering when I'm even a little tired. Still, held
things more or less together.
Finally a round of
6 nimmt!, always
fun, though I think five or more is the sweet spot (where a stack can
go from 1-card-safe to 5-cards-deadly between you choosing the card to
play and that card being resolved).
