Boxing Day Boardgames had to be cancelled after an extremely tiring
incident a few days earlier, but I was able to get out for boardgames
at a friend's place on New Year's Day.
We started with NMBR
9, one I haven't
had out for a while; not sure why, really. For a completely
non-interactive game it's surprisingly mean in terms of what one finds
oneself doing. Should play this more. (I have two copies to support up
to eight players.)
Another one I don't often get out, Captain
Sonar. This
wasn't a great success with the new players but I think I might give
this a go as a PBF.
Tinderblox
over a food and tea break, with the usual appreciation for the rubbish
tweezers.
Mysterium, the
longest game of the day, with me ghosting. Got to the end, but didn't
quite make the final goal. Still love this one, especially with a
large chatty group.
One Night
Revolution,
yet another game I haven't played in too long. The group mostly
didn't get on with it (several of them are quite new to social
deduction games), but it's still my favourite of the one-night
subgroup.
Finally, new to me
Chronology:
Timeline-style cards, but if one player can't fit the card correctly
into their timeline, the next one has a go, and so on. No hands so
fewer choices to be made (you can't deliberately choose to keep a
large open span), but had its moments.
