2020 SF/romance novella, last of its trilogy. Queen Samara and Emperor
Valentin go to a neutral space station for a meeting with the military
commander who's been trying to kill them both. Everyone knows it's a
trap…
…but what it comes down to is who can trap better, which
includes managing the station's boss and keeping them amused. Also
there's lots of shagging like bunnies of course; I mean, this is the
third volume.
I'm not surprised, but am pleased, to see that neither of our heroes
ends up giving up rulership in order to be with the other. Yeah, maybe
one day, but for now they both have serious jobs to do, and they're
going to make that work with a lot of commuting.
As before this is the "good bits" highlights of what could have been a
longer book, and perhaps there isn't quite the emotional weight that
one could have built up with a novel trilogy. This isn't great SF for
the ages, but I still found it highly enjoyable.
