2013 Regency romance novella. Hecuba Jones is stealing back paintings
that were to be her inheritance, sold by her uncle. But the younger
brother of the Earl catches her… vt Color Me Bad.
And it turns out he used to paint, until his family laughing at
him got too much; and of course they fall into instant lust, so
there's painting and fornication in roughly equal measure. (I'm lying,
there's a lot more fornication, at least by word count.)
There's only one real point of tension, and that and how it will be
un-knotted to produce a happy ending are the main point of the book,
so I won't go into detail about it. There is however a pleasing level
of research into painting techniques and styles, which raise what
might otherwise be quite a forgettable "warm" romance to something
rather more enjoyable. For me it's nowhere near the standard of
Waiter's later Feminine Pursuits series, though.
