Neighbourly Games 30 December 07 January 2025

More gaming with nearby friends.

Our game this evening was Rock Hard: 1977, new to two of the four players.

This time I tried to get away from the "straight" rush (demo tape, record contract, gigs) and went all-out for parties and candy. Even then I never needed my special ability, a free reroll of the Sugar Craving die each month.

However, even though I'd seen most of the main choices before, I never felt forced into a particular style of play, and I still ran away with the win. So I think that's a positive point for the game.

I enjoyed it when we played it at Stabcon. Through ignorance, I messed up my job choice, which slowed the start and hampered my special ability to write songs. But don't think I did too bad after that. Long way behind you but respectable for first time. Only had the basic record deal and didn't play anything bigger than a bar (if you don't count the billionaire's pool party).

I think the Stabcon play was about game 4 for me, but I think I'm spotting combinations for that specific game rather than cranking a handle that works reliably.
