It is my belief that this blog is not covered by the new Online
Safety Act.
Check if the regulations apply:

- Does your online service have links with the UK?
Yes
- Do you provide a “user-to-user” service?
Yes
- Do you provide a search service?
No
Note: this is defined as a service that searches more than one web
site, so the blog's internal search is not relevant.
- Does your online service publish or display pornographic content?
No, we don’t publish/display any pornographic content
- Do any exemptions apply to the content on your online service?
Yes, users can only interact with content generated by my business
Note: there is no conception in the Act of services run by an
individual.
Per OFCOM comments:
if a blog and the platform on which it is posted are controlled by
the writer of the blog, then the blog constitutes provider content,
and comments and reviews on the blog are exempt. This exemption also
extends to any further comments on such comments or reviews.
but later
Content will be exempt if it comprises comments or reviews 'relating
to' provider content. The Act makes no mention of how closely
connected to the provider content the comment or review must be to
benefit from this exemption.
Therefore the new moderation policy does not approve comments
relating only to other comments, rather than to the blog post on which
they are comments.
It is therefore my considered opinion that the blog is out of scope.
Note that I will only approve comments that relate to the blog post itself, not ones that relate only to previous comments. This is to ensure that the blog remains outside the scope of the UK's Online Safety Act (2023).
