2017 novelette, prequel to the Fiona Griffiths series. A very new
constable Griffiths goes out on her first patrol.
The viewpoint jumps around in a way the books don't, but the
point of it all is to show how an incident that might be just another
stabbing outside a nightclub comes about, and who's trying to use it
for their own ends. And, of course, that Griffiths is going to be a
very good if thoroughly unconventional officer.
I enjoyed it a great deal, though I don't think it's characteristic of
the books; and given the amount of promotional material round it,
including repeated comments on how many awards the series has won, I
started to feel heavily advertised-at. Even so, worth getting hold of
if you can.
Series recommended by Gus. This used to be freely available, but isn't
any more.
