The Oxford Meeples had another
quarterly games day, and I had a great time again.
We started with Steampunk Rally Fusion: Atomic
Edition, with the Machu
Picchu track tiles but no special course effects. I tried Marie
Marvingt, whose Air Ambulance seems very generally useful: five points
of red die gives either a smooth move or two repairs, and the other
card ejects a red die. Definitely a good inventor for a beginner. (But
I came second to a very well-played Ada Lovelace.)

On to a quick round of Flip
7, good fast-moving fun.
One player got two runs of seven. (There seems to be a new version out
now, which I may pick up at some point… but I feel no great rush to do
so.)

Next, Betrayal at House on the
Hill, which I often used
to see at conventions but haven't had a chance to play before. As it
turned out, we hit the haunt at the end of the first round (five
players, one item, four omens), before we'd done more than minimal
exploration or building up of resources. We did our best to fight it
off, but by the time the rooms for both parts of the solution had been
found, I was dead and all but one other player were on Team Evil. So
it goes. Wouldn't mind playing again some time.

Finally, two games of Flash Point: Fire
Rescue. With one new
player we stuck to the basic map board, and lost fairly
comprehensively the first time, but did better second time round. (I
try not to tell people how to play, because it's more fun for them
working out their own styles, but I think it helps if I hint a bit.)
