Beginning To Look a Lot Like Ninja 09 March 2026

I am on the freebie list for the Bundle of Holding.

Sometimes I promote them on the podcast, if they seem interesting and worthy of attention by the sort of extremely discerning role-player whom I fondly imagine to make up our audience. THe Bundle is also where I got the Mongoose 2300AD material, particularly the excellent Bayern campaign.

But a lot of the time it's yet more rotefant, yet more "the 5e game of tortured dudes who are nonetheless utterly awesome".

And sometimes, as at the moment, there seem to be a lot of ninjas for some reason. (I use "ninjas" deliberately; "ninja" is a Japanese term, while the pluralisation "ninjas" is a Western one, and these are definitely Western games using the Exotic Orient for appeal.)

And so, inspired by Marcus L. Rowland

It's beginning to look a lot like ninja
Hiding from your eye
Dogs are eating sleepy steak, men are hiding in the lake
With poisoned hearts and blowpipe darts afly

It's beginning to look a lot like ninja
Warlords lie in gore
But the scariest sight to see is the shuriken that will be
In your own front door
