2025 fantasy, 13 episodes, light novel series adaptation:
AniDB. Lady Scarlet El Vandimion is
cast off by the prince to whom she's been publicly engaged since
childhood. Fortunately her skills include a lot of punching. vt May I
Ask For One Final Thing?
That's the basic gimmick, really: Scarlet is confronted by
treachery and deception, and punches the perpetrators (sometimes into
the sky). She looks like a harmless noblewoman, but she is genuinely
bloodthirsty as well as having a strong sense of justice. Her career
starts with the corrupt prince, goes on to purge the kingdom's
slave-dealing nobles, and ends up tipping the balance in a
confrontation between two gods.
But while the main plot is good fun, it's the characterisation that I
enjoyed more: the other prince, Julius, is a sneaky planner, and of
course his fake engagement to Scarlet will end up as something more.
It often feels as though they're the two grown-ups in the room while
everyone else is just reacting to the latest thing, whatever it might
be.
There's also a villainess angle, since there are a lot of the Ungodly,
and they're happy to brand Scarlet as a violent and graceless woman;
meanwhile her ex-fiancé has got engaged to a pink fluffy heroine type
(who is of course the real villain of the whole thing). But there's no
"working for good in the guise of evil" here; the good guys regard
Scarlet as exasperating but basically right.
Enjoyable, cathartic, and comes to a conclusion.
