2026 fantasy, 12 episodes, light novel series adaptation:
AniDB. Orhun is sacked by the
top-ranked adventuring party because they think he's not strong
enough, and is holding them back. They are wrong. vt
Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None.
Indeed, the oddest thing here is how the party could have been
that stupid: in effect their front-line fighters have fallen prey to
the classic bad boss syndrome, assuming that anything they don't do
themselves must be easy. (I gather from Wikipedia spoilers that there
is actually a reason for this given later in the story.)
I'm glad to say that this world doesn't have levels, though it does
have something like classes: at least, there are Attackers (dealing damage),
Defenders (distracting the monsters and toughing out their attacks),
and Supporters (buffs, heals, and so on). Orhun specifically started
as a swordsman and then trained as an ehchanter; that's definitely a
Supporter class, and since that's not as glamorous as the
front-liners…
But it turns out that Orhun is not only ridiculously good as an
enchanter, he's developed his own unique magic to back himself up as a
solo fighter. Which means he can pretty much win any dungeon fight on
his own.
The first part of the series has him working with one of the larger
adventuring groups to supervise a group of novices on a teaching
expedition; later things get more serious, and Orhun's new
found-family bonds (formed reluctantly after the old one threw him
out) get severely tested.
Everyone has Trauma, and many of them have Murky Pasts, but I was most
interested in Orhun learning to reach out after being cast off, and
finding a new vocation as a teacher. But there are lots of blasty
battles too.
This is definitely not the end of the story, and a second season has
been announced, planned broadcast date unknown.
