Wildlife of Scandiwegia, summer 2015 08 July 2015

Various wildlife spotted on the Finnish holiday. Images follow: cc-by-sa on everything.

Waterfowl on Sprogø.

Deadly Danish sheep.

Racing duck, in the yard of the B&B in Sweden.

More ducks, somewhat blurred.

Sheep, looking innocent, and various fowl. (You cannot see the other sheep, which was rootling around under the balcony on which I was standing.)

Two for joy, in Stockholm.

Random flowers in Stockholm.

Mariehamn jackdaw at supper...

...and at breakfast.

Unknown flower.

Competition for the jackdaws.

Swedish barn cat.

Tired Old Seagull. (Really needs a fag in its beak to complete the image.)

I think the Tired Old Seagull is actually a Hungover Young Seagull. It seems to be in the middle of moulting from its juvenile to its adult plumage.

It's probably been out clubbing all night and has missed the last bus home... :-)

When I visited Poland, they seemed to have jackdaws filling the role that pigeons do in UK cities. Is it the same in Finland?

A fair old hangover at around 8pm local time. I assumed it was old because of the faded grey beak. Thanks!

(On one occasion on the way to the ferry we saw what was clearly the entire Boulogne Gothic Scene. Both of it.)

Bird life depends on the bit of Finland. In Mariehamn it was jackdaws and various sorts of seagull. In Turku on previous trips it was mostly jackdaws. Helsinki had lots of gulls and a few pigeons.
