Yesterday, within a minute after local sunset, the sky went pink.
The mostly-overcast sky changed from bluish-grey to bright pink over
the space of about two seconds; then about ten seconds later it faded
to a darker pink, which persisted for about ten minutes and then faded
back to a normal darkening grey.
This is the best of the images I captured, but even this doesn't show
the colour of the sky itself. (Just for reference, that wall on the
left is light grey in reality.)
I assume that this was a matter of the setting sun getting behind a
cloud of just the right optical composition, but the sudden and
complete nature of the transformation was quite startling.
Maybe I should check the four thousand gallon potable water reserveā¦
