As will have become apparent, I'm a big fan of Joe Fatula's boardgame
Leaving Earth.
The thing that's most fiddly, though, is money: you reset your funds
to a standard level at the start of each turn, which means lots of
passing paper banknotes back and forth.
This is a 3D-printed answer to that: a pegboard for keeping track
of current cash. Each turn you put the peg back at "25" (conveniently
ringed), and then simply move it up or down the track as you receive
or spend money.
The original plan was for a circular board, but using ten holes per
revolution left the outer holes a very long way apart. Shame, as it
was quite pretty.
But an oblong board is smaller and easier to use.
The peg is actually the hardest thing to print, since the symbol needs
to be laid flat to come out right, which means the cylinder and
tapered end can suffer from overhang problems...
But it all seems to work.
If you're in the UK I'll make you a board and peg set for £2.42 plus
postage (£12.10 for a set of five in player colours); if you're outside
the UK you can pay vastly more to get it from
Shapeways.
