I was passing the local post office when I spotted the police
tape (I didn't think British forces used it, but so it goes). It seems
that on Christmas Eve there was a shooting by the War Memorial. The
local paper has
a little more information,
but it looks as though nobody's even prepared to say definitively yet
that a shot was fired.
But this was the occasion for getting this photograph, which felt like
a suitably grim coda to a grim year.
