More boardgames played from home. (No, you didn't miss an October part
1; I played very little in the first half of the month, mostly because
of a secret RPG-writing project taking up my time.)
As usual, this doesn't include games I've blogged about
elsewhere. But top for the month was Rallyman:
GT once more,
mostly but not entirely on BoardGameArena, where several racing
leagues are going on. (There's still the ISGOYTRA Rallyman GT
challenge, and one of the reasons I play board games more than
computer games in the first place is that I like the interaction with
real components.)
Some more Twin Tin
Bots, which
is on both BGA and yucata.de. It's a vicious game, and very hard work,
but good fun. In other robot-programming news, some more
VOLT on yucata.
Yucata also has
Automobiles,
which is probably the Euro-ish game I enjoy most. Maybe the racing
element gets over the thematic abstraction gap?
I continue to play occasional games of Machi
Koro there
too, still using my "never roll two dice" strategy. Several other
people are using it too.
A random game of
Coup one evening,
because they were looking for players…
A turn-based game of
Potion
Explosion
at which I was finally able to dither long enough to work things out
and pull off a win. Oh dear! Does that mean I really do need that long
to think?
Some more
Rallyman for
ISGOYTRA, and
Red7, both still
favourites of mine.
I wanted to get in a game of Sakura
Arms before
committing to the current Kickstarter for a new English translation.
I'm still not much of a fan of the art, but it's a really
interesting duelling game with lots of decisions to make. At this
point, this and Android: Netrunner have pushed Ashes down to third
place on my favourite two-player deck-construction games list. (Though
I still love the art in Ashes.)
And some more
V-Commandos
as a play-by-forum game on discussion.tekeli.li.
