Random in Death, J. D. Robb 16 October 2024

2024 romance/SF/mystery; 58th novel of Robb's In Death series (SF police procedurals). Someone's poisoning girls in public places; Dallas investigates.

This time there's a lot of profiling involved, after some initial checks reveal the likelihood that the killer is going for a type rather than specific people. Given these victims and this means of murder, what sort of killer would match up with both?

It is very much a series book, and fair enough; it does the thing it does, and if there are no particular surprises and we've seen several of these ideas in the previous 57 books, what matters is that the thing is done well. Regular characters return and get a bit more development, both staying consistent with their estabslished personæ and growing in new ways.
