2022 romantic fantasy short stories, more scenes set after the
events of Eclipse.
In effect it's "what they did next", significant conversations
leading up to the wedding and the start of Isembard and Thesan's
married life. And as with the previous collection Tea and Meetings,
mostly what we have here is sensible people being sensible, with any
hazard relatively minor and dealt with by proper forethought rather
than by improvisation in the heat of the moment. However, here we
mostly see the couple together, and it always seems to me that that's
what a romance should do, and what Lake does very well: not just the
fireworks of getting together, but the practicality of merging two
lives that have already been separately set up to fit the people
living them.
If you're read and enjoyed Eclipse and wanted more, this is that. If
you haven't, there's not much point in starting here.
